Adult Christmas Games
From LoveToKnow Christmas
Stringing the tree with popcorn and opening the Advent calendar are terrific holiday traditions, but sometimes, having an assortment of creative adult Christmas games to play makes grown-up gatherings more festive.
Mixed Gathering Adult Christmas Games
Try playing the following games in situations where there are teenagers and adults, or a mix of family members you don’t see very often. Some of them might even work well for the company Christmas party. If you’re with a group of rowdy friends, you can always alter the rules or game structure to reflect inside jokes or more ribald humor.
Holiday Sausages
- Separate the group into two teams, each team facing each other.
- A member of Team A asks a member of Team B a question.
- Team B’s answer is “Holiday Sausages”. When providing the answer, the person cannot laugh or smile, or Team A gets a point. If the person keeps a straight face, then his team gets the point.
- Then, Team B gets to ask a question.
- The answer to all questions will always be “Holiday Sausages”, regardless of which team answers. First team to score 10 points wins.
- Maintain your composure, and your team will rack up the most points! This is a great game for inside holiday gift jokes among families, such as “kitty sweater” or “talking fish”.
Pair o’ Carolers
- Count off an even number of people. Large groups work well for this game.
- Write down the name of a popular Christmas carol on two slips of paper.
- Put all the slips into a bag, and ask everyone to draw for one.
- When the individuals draw their slip, they can’t show it to anyone. But they do have to start humming the song written on the paper.
- People then walk up to other people in search of the other person humming their tune.
- Once a matched pair find one another, they need to start singing the Christmas song loudly in front of everyone else, and they are the winners!
- Designate as many winners as you like, and present them with a small token of goodies.
Christmas Kiss Relay
- Divide the group in two teams.
- Put a bowl of wrapped chocolate kisses in a central location.
- Give the first players from each team a pair of mittens.
- At “go”, the players run to the bowl, grab a chocolate kiss and unwrap it, while wearing mittens.
- The players then rush to their team mates, pop the kiss in their mouths, give them the mittens, and the next players advance.
- First team to all be “kissed” wins!
Christmas Conversation Piece
Another popular holiday-themed game is a book called Christmas Conversation Piece, by Paul Lowrie and Bret Nicholaus. The fun comes from answering thought-provoking questions such as, “If you could spend Christmas anywhere in the world, where would you go?” and “What’s your favorite holiday scent and why?” and “What’s been the greatest blessing in your life since last Christmas?”
Naughty Adult Holiday Activities
Punch Flip
- Can be done with alcoholic or non-alcoholic drinks, but some group members may enjoy a spiked punch flip more.
- Divide the group into two teams on either side of a long table.
- Set out a row of plastic cups in front of the players.
- Line the players up in front of the cups.
- At “go”, the players drain the cups as fast as they can, and set them mouthpiece down on the table.
- Players then try to flip the cups right-side up. The first team to flip all their cups upright wins.
Twas the Night Before Christmas Poem
- Print out a copy of the poem, Twas the Night Before Christmas before the party.
- Ask each person what they did the night before the party. Take all answers.
- Re-write the poem with the new suggestions. Depending on the number of suggestions, you may have a number of different versions. Some may be nice, and some may be naughty!
- Ask a couple members of the group to read the new versions to the gang.
Bad Santa Gift Exchange
- Instead of the traditional white elephant gift exchange, tell guests they have a $5-$10 limit to purchase something a little racy, such as what you might find at Spencer’s. Could be panties, a deck of suggestive cards, anything.
- Then, like the usual gift exchange, give every gift a number, and each guest draws a number.
- Rules can include no stealing once a gift is opened, or a demonstration of the gift once it’s opened.
Adult Christmas Games for Two
If the party is more intimate, try the Naughty, Naughty Christmas Kit, which includes, among other treats, peppermint oil, mistletoe, and red fuzzy handcuffs.
