Set Snow Scenes

A snow scene is frequently used in Christmas decorations throughout the home. From small, indoor figurines in a snowy setting to large decorated yard displays, this look can be used to portray both secular and religious elements of the holiday.

Scenes are put together with a theme in mind that unifies the entire picture. Common representations of snow scenes include:

  • Victorian villages
  • Country barns
  • 18th and 19th century American towns
  • Coastal scenes
  • Nativity scenes
  • Woodlands or forests and animals
  • Modern cities across the world
  • The North Pole and Santa Claus
  • Winter sporting events, such as skiing or ice skating

Snowy décor is often a cheap Christmas decoration. By purchasing a few main pieces to start the scene, each year it can grow with just one or two additions.

Picturesque Snowy Scene Decor

Gently falling snow is a lovely sight to behold. Incorporate it into holiday home décor by using snow scene pictures and figures throughout the house.

Christmas Villages

Christmas village displays are probably the most common way to show off a snow scene. Each village accessory can be purchased separately to create the design you want. Choose pieces that have snow on the ground or clinging to rooftops. Complete the look with some faux snow to tie the entire village together.

Wall Décor

Switch out wall hangings for Christmas art that include snow. Paintings and tapestry hangings from artists like Thomas Kinkade and Terry Redlin often have a particular season depicted. Measure the space so that hangings will look proportionate. Paintings and tapestries can be switched out around November 1st and left up until the end of January in order to enjoy them longer.

An Advent calendar is a popular choice for wall decoration in many Christian homes. Quite a few can be found with a snow-covered stable or house that allows for counting down the days until Christmas.

Tabletop Figurines

A number of holiday figurines have snowy scenes inside. Christmas snow globes can have entire villages, ice skating rinks or forest scenes inside with the falling snow. Outside, the base may also have carvings that are an extension of the inner picture.

Cookie jars, snowman centerpieces, Gingerbread houses, crystal giftware and more may all feature snowy accents perfect for tabletop display.

Bed, Bath and Kitchen

Christmas-themed bedding sets, especially in flannel, are the perfect choice for staying warm. Choose one with a comforter or blanket showcasing a Christmas snow scene. Sheets and pillowcases might have snowflakes, while decorative accent pillows may have images imprinted or embroidered onto their tops.

Bathroom accessories, like shower curtains, toilet seat and toilet top covers and rugs often come in Christmas offerings. Pick out a curtain with a scene that fits the overall décor of the room and then accessorize as the budget and room space allows.

Finally, add some winter snow to a kitchen or dining room. A table runner with a long scene featuring Nativity characters, animals or Santa, his sleigh and Rudolph is a great conversation piece. Additionally, Christmas themed place settings with a snowy portrait upon them are excellent holiday dinnerware.

Outdoor Scenes

Large Christmas inflatables can create a magical scene outside. Even without real snow on the ground, they may have a snowy base to help promote the image of a cozy winter scene. Wooden cut-outs and barnyard scenes are also good choices for creating an outdoor display.

Computer Graphics

Highlight a snowfall scene on the computer using different graphics and programs. Print a Christmas coloring picture or even create a free Christmas email card with snow in it. Screensavers, desktop Christmas wallpaper, MySpace page backgrounds and other fun applications may all come with a choice of a snowy scene.

Christmas Snow Scenes Cards

Send out a Christmas card that illustrates a snowy scene. From funny graphics and cartoons to sentimental and religious messages, a snow-covered card will look great sitting on a mantel or hanging in a card display.

Pets and children frolicking in a recent snowfall is the ideal photo Christmas card. Studios often have a snowy background scene for portraits, leaving no one out in the cold for a family photo session.
