Unique Christmas Ornaments for a Themed Tree
If you enjoy unique Christmas ornaments, consider making your decorations themed. Options are abundant for themed trees. Some winter themes to consider include:
Not all themes have to relate to the season. Instead, take something you are interested in and find ornaments for your tree that relate back to that theme. For a really different idea, consider doing several smaller trees throughout your home with ornaments relating to different themes. For example, the kitchen could have a baking theme, while the family room may be decorated in all blue. Put a small tree up in your baby’s room, too.
Other ideas for themes include:

- Hunting/fishing

To find unique Christmas ornaments for themed trees, stop into specialty stores during the holiday season or look at online Christmas shops. Certain stores, like Harley Davidson, will stock unique Christmas ornaments during the holidays.
Create Your Own Ornaments
Another way to get unique Christmas themed ornaments is to create your own. While you can start from scratch, you can also turn other household items into ornaments. All you need is some string, ornament hooks, scissors, glue, and creative ideas. The following ideas are just some examples of what you can do.
Musical Ornaments
To make musical ornaments, find old sheet music. Cut templates of the treble clef, bass clef, and notes out of cardboard. Trace them onto various sheet music and cut out. Attach a red ribbon and hang on your tree.
Vehicle Ornaments
Find vehicles in the toy section. You can mix them up, or get all of a certain kind. Make sure to vary the sizes. Attach an ornament hook with some glue or run a string through the vehicle and hang.
Color Ornaments
Color themed trees require little work and turn out spectacularly. Simply choose two complimentary colors, like red and gold. Take gold glitter glue and make lines across red ball ornaments. Buy a large roll of red velvet ribbon, and make a huge bow for the top of the tree. Run alternating red and gold ribbon vertically down the tree from the top bow for a modern effect.
You could also purchase a cheap can of spray paint, and paint cheap multi-colored ornaments one single color for a stunning effect.
Baby Ornaments
Making a baby themed tree is easy. Hang small socks on the tree with hooks. Add a few small shoes by tying laces in a loop. Hang rattles in the tree and place small plush toys across branches to finish the look.
